With increasing globalization, we are no longer limited to purchases from the country or from neighboring countries. Thanks to online stores and sites, including eBay, you can buy virtually anything from any part of the world. Nevertheless, many people are opposed to this shopping platform, which is completely incomprehensible. Shopping online has never been easier, and above all easier. How to shop on eBay?
What is eBay?
The site is only a shopping platform, not a direct seller. It is through this site that sellers and buyers from all over the world come togetherto sell or buy practically anything here. The website thus works on the same principle as, for example, the Czech project Aukro.cz, which is really popular in our region.
What are the reviews on eBay?
EBay.com as a global brand has very good reviews and ratings. The same is true in the Czech Republic, where most people have experienced only positive experiences. The main advantages are a wide range of goods, which corresponds a bit with the platform of the online store and of course the pricing policy. For a few crowns you can get relatively high quality goods here, for which you would pay much more in a stone shop. The disadvantage is the longer delivery time and in some cases expensive postage.
How to shop on eBay?
You will need to register before purchasing. That's practically everything, because then you just have to choose the goods and put them in the shopping cart. Choose wisely if possible, because cheap products are not always the best. Look for goods with the highest possible rating, and more check whether the seller sends the goods to the Czech Republic. It is also best to look for eBay reviews from this seller.
Will I pay VAT and customs duties?
The only legal way to avoid paying customs and VAT is to buy goods for personal consumption only from the European Union. For each item, you can see where the seller comes from, and therefore information on whether you will have to pay VAT and customs duties. However, there are exceptions when purchasing from non-EU countries, for which you will also not pay these fees.
If your order does not exceed $ 22, it is free of duty and VAT. If you order a thing with a price higher than 150 USD and at the same time the actual value of the goods plus shipping costs do not exceed 22 USD, you are duty free, but you pay VAT.
Does eBay support Czech?
Although the site is a global platform used in the vast majority of civilized countries, you will search in vain for an interface in Czech here. The cleaned version existed from 2010 to 2013, but many people preferred to use the original English pages. But you don't have to despair, because knowledge of English is not necessary at all when using automatic translators.
Watch out for eBay reviews
As in all other e-shops, there is a risk that you will run into a fraudulent seller. This is easy to prevent if you check it first. You should never buy anything from a seller with a user rating of less than 90 %. The more valuable goods they sell, the better the reviews should be. Also, don't let the protection period expire, because then no one from official support can help you anymore.
How do complaints work on eBay?
If you do not receive the goods within the specified period or you want to complain about it for any reason, you should do so immediately upon receipt of the package. You have 30 days from the expected delivery date to open the dispute, or 30 days from the delivery of the goods in the event of a complaint. In the case of payment via PayPal, you can open the dispute up to 180 days after payment. However, never close a dispute at the instigation of the seller. A meeting closed in this way cannot be reopened.
How to pay on eBay?
The easiest way to pay for a shipment is to set up a PayPal account. Avoid credit card fraud with this. In addition, some merchants only send goods to a verified address, which you confirm using a PayPal account. Beware of paying by standard bank transfer, because in that case you are not covered by the money back guarantee directly from eBay. Instructions are not even necessary, it's really simple.
Can I track a shipment?
Tracking an eBay.com shipment is a matter of course. Enough, when you click on orders in My eBay, for which various symbols are displayed. Once the symbol is bold, the process has already taken place. The dollar indicates the payment, the next is the eBay shipping order, the third is your seller's rating and the fourth is how the seller rated you. Will you also add your experience to eBay reviews?
