Ronin increases security
This time, Ronin has added three new validators to the network, bringing the total to 17. According to Sky Mavis, the company behind the Ronin and Axie Infinity bridge, the recent addition is the next step in their original goal of reaching 21 validators. The new validators are Efficient Frontier, Community Gaming and Nansen.ai.
As Sky Mavis points out, network validators have an important duty to ensure that all transactions on the network are processed correctly. In addition, they act as ecosystem supporters and their ratings are based on their contribution to the ecosystem.
"The current validators were selected to ensure that Ronin will have active, responsive and secure validators supporting the network as part of Sky Mavis' commitment to strengthen our security," the company said.
Efficient Frontier
Efficient Frontier (EF) is a digital asset trading company and market maker on centralized and decentralized exchanges.
According to Sky Mavis the EF team has been working with the company since 2020. Its main focus is to create a market for the Ronin network and ensure liquidity for tokens in the ecosystem.
"They are the team to make sure the Ronin node is stable and secure."
Community Gaming
Another new validator is Community Gaming, an all-in-one platform that builds the infrastructure to support the growth of the Web 3.0 gaming and esports community.
"Its mission is to enable millions of players to monetize their passion for gaming by providing a platform that gives player teams, game organizers and game developers the tools they need to create, facilitate and participate in esports tournaments and missions."
Nansen.ai
The latest new validator is Nansen.ai, a blockchain analytics platform that combines on-chain data with a database containing millions of wallet data.
According to Nansen, it provides detailed information about Ronin network data.
Ronin Bridge Hack
The Axie Infinity bridge hack, Ronin, took place in March and compromised five of the nine key validator nodes on the sidechan.
To carry out the attack, the hackers used stolen private keys to gain access to the nodes. They then entered fake withdrawals, gaining access to the stolen tokens. The hacker used these keys to steal 173,000 ETH and 25.5 million USDC stablecoins.
Later, Sky Mavis raised funds, such as from Binance, to compensate for the attack. The company also announced that refunds for affected users began on June 28.
