Metaverse and gaming platform Sandbox is the latest company to be targeted by a hack. The attack hit the Instagram platform, as reported by the security firm PeckShield.
After PeckShield reported the attack, Sandbox confirmed the action and deactivated his Instagram account. This is the third attack on the cryptocurrency platform in the last week.

Sandbox Instagram account attack
Beginning this Thursday, the PeckShield security platform on twitter warned of a possible hacker attack on the Instagram Sandbox. PeckShield did not initially confirm the attack, but advised users not to click on any links provided by the profile.
Then, three hours after the notification, Sandbox confirmed the breach through its twitter. Following PeckShield's lead, Sandbox warned users not to click on any links on its site. The team also asked to report any fake sites trying to impersonate the Sandbox.
“Sandbox is aware that its official Instagram account has been compromised. Do not click on any links on Sandbox's Instagram page. Do not interact with anyone on an Instagram page claiming to be from The Sandbox,” the team said.
The team has also launched an investigation into the cause of the attack. Afterwards, the staff revealed that the Instagram account had been temporarily disabled.
According to Sandbox, the attack was limited to stealing an Instagram profile. This means that the hackers did not steal any funds from the network users. So don't post your private key to any profile as it might lead to losing your funds.
Although the attack was serious, it did not affect the price of the SAND token, which is trading at $1.28.
Week of attacks
The month of August started in full swing when it comes to attacks on cryptocurrency networks. In fact, in less than a week, there have been three such attacks, each of a different nature.
In addition to the Sandbox profile, another attack hit the bridge between the Nomad blockchains, resulting in a loss of $190 million. After that, a series of attacks hit Solana (SOL) network wallets, resulting in the loss of several SOL tokens and even USDC. The hack followed the blockchain's block production problems in September 2021 and June 2022. Between those two dates, Solana had to stop block generation a total of eight times.
On Wednesday, an attack hit the ZB exchange, which is considered "the most secure in the world." However, the platform lost approximately $5 million in customer funds. About 2224 ETH were compromised after the breach.
