Inflation has sparked criticism of White House policy
Worrying inflation data was expected, and the fact that it was even worse than expected weighed not so much on the markets as on the political future of the US president. Biden is often blamed for the slow and ineffective actions taken along with the FED and FOMC.
Results are delayed for a number of reasons. While on the one hand the Fed is gradually raising rates (and at the next meeting it is expected to be 100 basis points), on the other hand it continues its expansionary money printing policy.
Both measures go in opposite directions, yet the deficit is part of the so-called "soft landing" strategy. The goal is to redirect the CPI to acceptable values between 2 % and 3 %, but they must be achieved without a sharp slowdown in the economy, or at least not so sudden that it causes too many problems for the country's economy.
The reports show that the assets Federal Reserve System it rose $4 billion last week, bringing the Fed's balance sheet to $8.896 trillion.
White House reporter says inflation has happened "Biden's political nightmare", as many criticize government spending. For example, Peter Schiff wrote on Twitter:
“The Fed's balance sheet increased for the third week in a row in June.
The $1.9 billion increase brought the size of the Fed's balance sheet to $8.934 trillion. I wonder when the Fed will stop creating inflation by ending quantitative easing and start actually fighting it.
In response, someone commented:
“They are buying less than what is growing to achieve the expected reduction. It's definitely still shrinking at the right pace.'
Other users disagreed with the statements, saying the Fed had "repeatedly demonstrated that it is buying far more than their own March estimates."
Another reason why the White House policy is under heavy criticism is the large allocation of resources to the war in Ukraine, which is perceived by the public as a minor issue and therefore a source of protests.
Meanwhile, Biden's great political rival continues his policy of media exposure, which certainly seems to be working, at least in the polls, to the point of great concern for the current president.
The lawsuit over the alleged coup on Capitol Hill appears to be deadlocked, though it is still in the spotlight. But that doesn't seem to bother Americans, who currently prefer Trump to the current president.
